Who is it right for?

Two friends who would rather not share a bed. A couple who like to spread out. A parent with one or two children, since the tub makes bath time easier and children may stay in the hotel as long as they keep out of the 19+ areas. And four adults on a budget weekend, though four grown-ups in 325 square feet is cosy, and we would think twice for more than one night.

Is 325 square feet small?

It is a normal size for a modern mid-range room with two queen beds. It will not feel like a suite, but it is not a cabin either. If you know you will spend a lot of time in the room, for instance working at the desk on a Friday before the weekend starts, the King Suite at 696 square feet is the step up.

Which view should we ask for?

The hotel offers two: the casino side or the garden side, assigned rather than chosen. We have no inside information on which is quieter, and we will not pretend to. Our instinct is the garden side for sleep and the casino side for people who like to see the evening's comings and goings. Put your preference in the request and our desk will ask.

Can we cook anything?

There is a mini fridge, which is enough for milk, a bottle of wine from a Scugog winery and a picnic for the next day. There is no microwave or sink listed for this type; for that you need the suite.

Can we bring the dog?

Yes. The pet policy covers the hotel as a whole, up to two cats or dogs per room, each up to 50 lb, with a nightly fee and a one-time cleaning fee. Details, and the rules about where pets may not go, are on our pet page.

What would we check before saying yes?

Three things. First, whether your dates fall on a show night at The Nest, because those weekends are busier. Second, the cancellation rule on your confirmation, since the house rule is 24 hours before check-in unless your confirmation says otherwise. Third, whether a resort fee applies: the operator's general rules allow one at its discretion, and we always ask before quoting.
