Three places on site, a town full of others

Eating on the island, and when to cross to town

The property has a restaurant and bar, a snack counter and a weekend buffet. That covers a night or two; for a longer stay, Port Perry is fourteen minutes away.

What is there to eat without leaving the island?

All
ages
Water's Edge Restaurant and BarSit-down meals, open to all ages

The main restaurant sits next to the casino and, according to the operator's restaurant list, is open to all ages. At the time of our check the operator described its menu as an "interim" à-la-carte menu, which usually means a shorter list while something is being changed. The back of the room is set up for banquets and takes private parties of up to 75 people (see meetings and parties).

Opening hours are shown on the operator's page through a widget that we could not read reliably, so we do not print them. Ask the front desk on arrival, or check the destination page on the day.

SnackQuickbitesSandwiches, baked goods, soft drinks

A counter for a quick break: the operator lists a wide variety of sandwiches, baked goods and soft drinks, open to all ages. Useful before an early show at The Nest or for a sandwich to take on a walk.

The weekend buffetFriday and Saturday 3:30–10 p.m., Sunday 3:30–9 p.m.

Great Blue Heron is one of three places in the operator's Ontario group that run its themed buffet. The schedule published for this property is Friday and Saturday from 3:30 to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 3:30 to 9 p.m. The operator's buffet page lists a prime rib carving station on Fridays and Saturdays and a homestyle buffet on Sundays, with a note that menus vary by location.

Pricing is tied to the operator's membership card, and the buffet terms state that you must be 19 or over to redeem the member offer. We leave the prices and conditions to the operator's page.

Is there breakfast?

The hotel's page does not mention a breakfast included with the room, and none of the room sheets list one. Google's place card for the hotel shows a breakfast icon among its amenities, but that is Google's summary, not the hotel's promise. Our advice: assume breakfast is not included, ask if it matters, and keep a Port Perry bakery in mind for the morning.

Can children eat with us?

At Water's Edge and Quickbites, yes; both are listed as open to all ages. What children cannot do is enter restaurants or amenities located on the gaming floor, even with a parent. If a place you want to try is on the floor, plan a different dinner when the children are with you. More on the family rules.

Where do we eat in Port Perry?

The township's tourism office lists the town's choices, and the list is long for a place of about 9,500 people. From it, the ones we would put on a weekend plan:

From Scugog Tourism's restaurant and drinks pages, read 31 October 2026. We have not eaten at all of them and do not rank them.

On Scugog Island itself, the tourism partners point to Marcelle's Kitchen, a dedicated gluten-free bakery, and Minisi Convenience & Gift on the north end of Island Road for everyday supplies and Indigenous art and gifts.

And a drink?

The operator lists a bar among the property's amenities, and Water's Edge is a restaurant and bar. For something local, Old Flame's Port Perry taproom brews German-style lagers; its own site lists the taproom hours, which are generous on Fridays and Saturdays. Further out are Two Blokes Cider, Applewood Farm & Winery and Ocala Winery. If you are driving back across the causeway, pick a designated driver or a taxi; the roads here are dark and rural after the town lights end.

On-site dining hours change. The operator's October 2026 update said Water's Edge was "operating as usual", with the buffet on the hours above.
