Two free Saturdays in November 2026

The operator has published two free tribute nights at The Nest this month. Here is how we would build a weekend around each.

November is not the obvious month for a lake weekend. The boats are out of the water, the museum village has closed for the season and the ice is not yet thick enough for huts. What November does have, this year, is two free concerts in a hall for close to 800 people, a short walk from the hotel rooms.

Saturday 14 November: Desire

Desire is a U2 tribute band; the operator promises the anthems, the soaring vocals and the guitar sound. Two sets: 4 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Free, all ages, doors 30 minutes before each set, seats first come, first served. If you have children with you, the 4 p.m. set is the easy one: back to the room by half past five, dinner at Water's Edge, which is open to all ages.

Saturday 28 November: Fleetwood Mac Mania

A Toronto-based band formed around 2007 that plays Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks's solo songs. Same format: 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., one hour each, free and all ages. The late set suits a couple's weekend: an early dinner, the show, and nobody driving back to the city at nine.

How would we plan the day?

Set times from the operator's event pages, read 31 October 2026.

AfternoonDoors at 3:30, show 4–5Island shops, a nap, the hotel gym
EveningDinner in town or on siteDoors at 6:30, show 7–8, then dinner on site
NoteCheck-in is from 4 p.m.: arrive Friday, or ask about early check-inArrive Saturday at 4 and you are in time

What should we bring?

Very little. The operator's venue rules allow only small clutches up to 5 × 12 × 18 cm or clear bags up to 8 × 35 × 35 cm, and bags may be inspected. Coats are a different question in late November; the rules do not mention coat check, so we would ask at the door.

Will the hotel be busier?

We cannot see the bookings, so this is common sense rather than data: free shows draw people from across Durham Region, and some of them stay. If you want a particular room type, especially the King Suite, ask early. Our desk will tell you honestly if the date is tight.
